Una piccola emittente televisiva sarda, diretta dal cinico Franco Avemaria, è oramai sull’orlo del fallimento. Storie Dannate, programma di punta dell’emittente, vede in studio ogni puntata un rifugiato di guerra, costretto a raccontare live il suo dramma, pur di far breccia su un pubblico annoiato ed assuefatto alla violenza. L’ospite della puntata è il bosniaco Hamid Dedovic. Il programma procede miseramente, tra paillettes e improbabili jingle pubblicitari, fin quando irrompe negli studi una telefonata. Sarà il principio di una tensione inarrestabile. E lo specchio perfetto di un pubblico perverso, dinnanzi ad una scatola vuota.

 

A small broadcaster in Sardinia - Italy, directed by the cynical Franco Avemaria, is now on the verge of bankruptcy. Damned Stories, flagship program of the TV station, hosts in studio each week a war refugee forced to tell his drama lived during the war in order to receive donations by an audience emotionally anesthetized. The guest of the 12th episode is the Bosnian Hamid Dedovic who has lost his family in the Bosnian war (1992-1995) and miraculously survived imprisonment and tortures by the Serbians. The show proceeds miserably with sequins and improbable jingles until a phone call arrives. The starting point of an unstoppable tension. And the perfect mirror of a warped audience, in front of an empty box.
